The masseter is the muscle at the back of your jaw you use to chew. Relaxing it with Botox or another wrinkle relaxer, such as Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau, or Daxxify, eases the tension behind clenching and grinding, and for many clients the muscle also softens and slims with time. You do not have to choose between the two goals: most clients get some of each.
Masseter injections are one option in our full injectables lineup. If your main goal is smoothing forehead lines or frown lines, Botox in those areas is the better starting point, and your provider can always combine both in one visit.

What do masseter injections actually do?
A wrinkle relaxer relaxes the masseter, the muscle at the back of your jaw that you use to chew. With less muscle activity, jaw clenching and tension ease, and for many clients the muscle also softens and slims over time.
Do you always use Botox in the masseter?
No. Botox is one option, but we also treat the masseter with other wrinkle relaxers we carry, such as Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau, or Daxxify. Your provider recommends the product that fits your muscle, your goals, and how you have responded to neurotoxins before.
Can it help with teeth grinding or TMJ tension?
Yes, for tension driven by clenching or grinding. Relief from that kind of muscle tension often comes first, within days. If your jaw pain comes from the joint itself rather than the muscle, we will talk through that honestly at your consultation and may point you toward a dental or medical evaluation instead.
How long until I see the slimming effect?
Slower than a forehead treatment, because the masseter is a larger muscle. Clenching relief can show up in days, while visible slimming usually builds over four to six weeks.
